AS3 Task Seven - Re-draft Final Evaluation

I have created an advert for the phone Sony Xperia Z3 by the company Sony. I chose this phone because when my friend got it for the first time she went around showing it to us and telling us about how amazing it was and also showing us that it is water proof. The age range for my advert is for 16 and over. This is because the phone has a lot of things about it that people like such as it being water proof because teenagers tend to take their phone everywhere, even places where there is water and the camera on the phone is actually really good to take pictures and film with when you are out and about with your family or friends. The selling point of this product is the wider screen because it makes it easier to read texts and emails from.

One I had got all the filming and the editing done for my advert, I then went on to getting the feedback on the advert. I got mixed feedback on my advert on what I did good and what I could have done better.  The questions that I asked during the recording of the focus group were "What did you like about the advert?", "What did you not like about the advert?", and, "What I could have done better with my advert?" I asked these questions because that way I know what I can do better next time if i make a new advert at any point. What people said about my advert was that it did look rushed (which I can agree with) but what they did like was how the scenes at the beginning go together well because the first scene blends into the second one really well. What makes the advert look rushed is the editing of it (in my option) because it looks like that I have kind of just quickly thrown it all together in a matter of minutes just to get it done. This has taught me that I should take time with editing so that it makes whatever I am editing look a little more professional and more eye catching to people. The also said that they music that I used for the advert was a bit too loud so they couldn't really hear what the actresses were saying so this has taught me that if Im gonna put music in an advert and people are talking, I need to make sure that the music is low enough to hear the talking but also loud enough for you to hear it in the background but it get louder at then end when it shows the name of the product and the picture of the product.

What I think I did well with the advert is the way that i filmed the advert. I think that I got good shots in the advert such as close ups and personal point of view shots. What I could have improved on in this advert is that i could have focused more on the phone and had the actress could have spoke more about the phones good points and not just three things about the phone. I do agree with the feedback that was given to me for the advert because the feed back I got were the things that I already thought I did well or not so well on. I also like the dissolves that I added in between the close ups of the phones so that you don't notice that it is a jump scenes. It is important to put dissolves in between jump scenes because if you don't, your advert can look untidy and it may be confusing to the audience that are watching the advert.

I think that the advert did have steady frames, smooth camera movements and I think that the shots were steady. I do think that the advert makes it clear what the product is I think that this advert did sell the product because people will like the idea of the wider screen and faster internet. I think it was a good idea because it shows people how clear the screen is and the fast internet.

What I could have improved with the advert is that I could have spent more time on filming and got more shot so I could choose the best shots and put them into the advert and maybe I could have put more camera shot in the advert

I think I did achieve my aim with the advert but I do believe that I could have done better with the whole making on the actual advert.

AS3 - Task Six - Finished product

AS3 - Task Four - Screening

Now that my advert is done. I did a focus group to show my advert. The pros of doing a focus group to show my advert because it helps get more feed back on what is good about the advert and what could be improved on the advert. The cons of doing a focus group to show my advert is that you could feel bad about something that you thought you did really well on then get feedback from someone in the focus group telling you that what you did wasn't really that good, so when it comes to focus groups, you can get a lot of negative feedback from people.

The age group for my focus groups is from 17 and older and the gender I have asked to look at my advert are male and female.

The questions I have asked were:
  • "What did you like about the advert?"
  • "what don't you like about the advert?"
  • "What do you think can be improved with the advert?"
  • "Does the advert make you want to buy the product?"
The improvements that I could have done with my advert is that I could have spent more time on it instead of rushing it like I have. I think it looks a bit rushed with the editing. It looks like i have quickly thrown it together so I can hand it in on time. This has taught me that I need to spend a bit more time with the editing of video's to make them look a bit more professional. What I should have done with my advert is thought it out a bit more before I went into shooting because that way my advert could look less rushed then it is. I should have given myself a bit more time when it come to making the advert and not actually leaving it till last minute like I did but it has taught me a lesson that I must keep on track when it comes to shooting otherwise everything will be a lot harder then it actually needs to be.

AS3 - Task Three - Sources of Information

Before I went into making my advertisement, I went through the planing stage where I had to do all sorts of planning before I could even start filming the advert.

Story board

The first step I took into creating my advert was Story boarding. I did this because by creating an story board, it helped me sort of plan out what direction I wanted this advert to go in and I could make a new one if the advert didn't seem right. The document was useful because I could slowly plan out what the actresses would be doing and what will happen in each scene as the advert moved on and I could even write down what shot each scene should be. I can improve the story board next time by maybe making it look less rushed so you can actually find out what is meant to be happening in they story board and make it look less rush so give myself a little bit more time on the story board.


















Budget

Once story boarding was done, I went on to see what the budget for this advert would be for the advert it is important you know how much will be spending on an advert because the company that will be looking at the advert will not want it to be to much money and if it is they may not take on the idea because you may be coasting them money for making the advert . I used this document to help me calculate how much the advert will coast me to make and how much everything will be. It was useful because it helped me to keep track on what i'm meant to be spending and what my budget was so I would not go over it. I could Improve on the budget document for next time by giving myself a target budget price so it would help me find away to save more money then to be spending so much. I can also improve on the layout of the document to make it look more professional then this one.

Location Visit sheet

One I found a location for us to do the filming, I then went on to make a location visit sheet. This is helpful the crew and the case because it has a map of the location on it and it tell them how they can get to the filming location, the best way from them to get there, the number of the location they can call if they are having trouble trying to find it and it also has the address. Not only that but it also has heath and safety issues notes to let everyone know if there is something that could happen in the house and Potential Filming problems. What I could do better on this document id that I could have found a more clearer map for the crew and cast so it would be made easier for them to find the filming location. But other then that, I think this document is quite useful.

Rough Sketch/Explanation of location and key points to note

You can get the 128, 150, 346 or the 368 bus. Get off at green lane then walk down burnside road, past the primary school and the two churches and walk down stevens road till you see the house number 33. But if you are getting the 368 you must get off at Becontree Avenue and walk to stevens road and look for the house 33.

Access to location via: The best way to get to the house will be by bus.

 Health and Safety Issues to note:

              There will be a dog at the house so the crew and the actresses must be careful when going into the kitchen because the dog can get over excited and is known for biting. Please let me know when the dog is out of its cage so I can return it into the cage before getting anything from the kitchen.
Potential Filming Problems :

              Crew and actresses must be careful when walking around the house. There is furniture and wires around the house. All furniture that will not be used will be moved but might still be able to trip over. Let me know if you think the furniture is in a dangerous area, please let me know. The wires will be moved out of the way as best as possible but may still be in the way. Please watch where you are walking if you are moving around the house.

It does not matter about the weather forecast because all the filming will be done inside of the location.

Shooting Schedule 

Once I was done with the location visit sheet we move onto the shooting schedule. This document is helpful because it lets the crew and cast know what they are doing in which day, what the scene is that is being filmed, what is need that day etc. It lets the cast know if they have to be on set that day or not and what they are dong in what scene. What I could have improved on in this document for next time is maybe add more information onto it next time so that the cast know more on what they have to do and they can go straight into acting without a lot me having to explain to much like I had to with this advert.

The broken phone scene and friend (actress 2) walks into the living room and asks what’s wrong and friend (actress 1) explains whats happened to her phone with close ups on the phones and the acresses.

The friend (actress 2) tells her friend (actress 1) about the new Sony Xperia Z3 and then the friend (actress 1) asks why it’s so good to have as her next phone with close up of the friend (actress 2) holding the Sony Phone.

This scene will be a close up on the Sony phone and the friend (acress 2) explaining what is good about the phone and will show the wider screen and voice recognising technology.

Friends (actress 1 and  2) will do water experiment on the Sony phone to prove that it is waterproof.


Friend (actress 1) will ask how much it will coast then get excited when it is a descent price and then wants to get the phone.

We know move on to the Risk assessment. This is helpful to because it lets the crew and the cast if there are any risks that could happen to them while they are filming so they do not get hurt. But giving the crew and cast the warning that there are things around the house that can cause injury's to anyone at anytime. The thing that i can improve on next time on this document is that I could go into a bit more detail on it to give the cast and crew more information on what could happen and how it can be stop before someone really gets hurt.

We then move onto the contact details. Contact details are very important because if you need to get in contacts with the crew and the cast to let them know if they have to cancel a shot one day or if their is an emergency and you need to contact everyone to let them know what has happened where as if you did not have the numbers then it will make shooting really hard if someone is late to filming and you don't have the number to the crew or cast member then it just makes filming harder then it should be.

 In conclusion to this, the documents that were mostly useful to me is the story board and the shooting schedule. This is because they both helped me plan out my advert step by step so that the more I have it planned, the easier it was to begin all the filming for the advert. On the other hand, the documents that where not so useful to me was the risk assessment because the equipment has no wires, the furniture is already out of the way and the dog that lives in the house is already in the kitchen so that he can't bite anyone when he gets to excited around new people.
